Aside from X-Men: Legacy #218 (see Friday’s review), Wolverine appeared in three other issues this week (November 19, 2008)…

Plot: Alex Ross & Jim Krueger
Script: Jim Krueger

Four panels. No words.

I mean, what’s the point of having Wolverine in a miniseries if you’re not going to use him?

A direct tie-in to ‘Old Man Logan’.

Really.

Not a horrible issue this time around, but I’m stiill not sure why this book is even being produced. It sure as hell won’t convert any young readers into Marvel Zombies.

What about Uncanny X-Men #504, you ask? Well, Wolverine does not appear…

I completely agree.

And I think the comic shops largely have themselves to blame. What other industry sells out of product so quickly such that you often times can’t find what you are looking for? I end up having to go to several stores to find the comics I am interested in. And the back-ordering system is a joke.

Plus, many comic stores seem to look down on manga, even though it features some of the most successful comics on the market.

The digital solution is intriguing. As soon as someone cracks the business model, I think it will flourish.

I found the Fantastic Four appearance a nice surprise. I do not see many of those these days. I was recently talking to a friend about the state of comics and how you just do not get the bang for the buck any more. COmics are too expensive and you get so much crap (see recent avenger secret invasion tie in’s) that it is causing people to cut back on what they buy. Yeah, they really screwed the pooch with Manga. That is why the bookstore market is kicking their ass. The comic store owners have contributed to the problem. Thye never seem to have a grasp of how to change with the market (old comics, graphic novels, manga). Probably because they are mostly run by comic fans. It can cloud their judgement and they are not business men at heart. But the industry is doing its fair share of adding nails to the coffin. a couple of months ago I spent $20 to buy some 5 comics. When I got home, i… Read more »

Thanks to Wolverine I have to go to four or five different places to get the missing issues I need. Sometimes Barnes and Noble or Borders will have a issue that my comic book store failed to stock up on. Which is ridiculous considering they are suppose to be a comic book store and I am reserving a particular title. There should be more comic book stores available, but sadly my town only has one close by and another really really far away.
