Review: Ultimates 3 #3

Really terrific cover of Wolverine getting eaten by a T. Rex.

Unfortunately, the pages within are pure melodrama.

Hawkeye pumps at least seven shots in Wolverine at point-blank range, but Captain America doesn’t think to reprimand Hawkeye until he curses at the Wasp. “Hey, watch that language, mister.” Maybe it’s just me, but shooting a fellow hero SEVEN TIMES AT POINT-BLANK RANGE seems a bit worse than cursing at a woman. Even to someone from the 1940s.

That said, if you like macho posturing, this issue is for you.

From Marvel (preview): “‘Sex, Lies, and DVD’ continues with ‘Siblings’ — the true(?) origin of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch! What horrible secret have these two shared and how is it now exposed? Does it hold a clue to solving the murder at the Ultimates’ mansion?” On sale February 19, 2008.

I read all the New Avengers series, thank to this book I could know the Avengers personalities and I know this isn’t the same universe (New Avengers vs Ultimates) but one thing for sure, Captain didn’t like Wolverine, he never wanted Wolverine in the New Avengers team and in the Ultimate Universe, he did worse than Hawkeye (Ultimate War 4)

Still . I have to agree with Digg. It’s too hypocritical to scold someone for cursing , and then turn a blind eye to mutilation. Even if he hated Wolverine’s guts, which I think is over exaggerating.

Good catch on ‘Ultimate War,’ I had forgotten about that. But I would suggest that the previous confrontation was during a battle, a battle fought to immobilize an enemy. So extreme force is to be expected. During this sequence, Hawkeye shoots Wolverine repeatedly for a responding to an insult that Hawkeye hurled at Wolverine. An insult, I might add, that is considered as bad as the N-word. And just because Wolverine can heal, doesn’t mean those shots don’t hurt. I guess my point is that Captain America, in this universe, comes across as a hypocrite, something I don’t think he… Read more »

I have a question about Captain America, I know that Cap from Ultimate Universe kills, can anyone tell me if Cap from Marvel Universe did kill back in WW II??

of course he did. it was a war, and he was a soldier. “symbol” or not. but i have reprints of alot of the golden age stuff, and they never showed graphic detail but he was running around with a machine gun type deal and firing it. i highly doubt he’s ever killed outside of a war though.

I know it was a dumb question, but I’ve never see him holding a gun (the Cap from Marvel universe), even in souvenirs of war
