Wolverine Q&A

The second Wolverine question-and-answer was destined to become the final Wolverine question-and-answer.

Question:X-Men #98 (Apr 1976) is stated as being the first issue that Wolverine is referred to as a mutant and that his claws are actually a part of his body and not just gloves. Can you tell me which issue first reveals Wolverine’s entire skeleton is laced with adamantium? And the first mention of Wolverine’s ‘healing factor’?” –Jude

Answer: X-Men #116 is the first time we learn of Wolverine’s unbreakable bones and fast healing…

…but it is not until X-Men #126 that we learn explicitly that his bones are laced with adamantium.

“G’day My name is Edward from Australia. I’m a huge fan of Wolverine and have been since I watched the old 90’s X-Men cartoon. But over the years I kinda stopped buying comics and only kept upto date on Wolverine through Wizard. I just finished reading your Wolverine Files and just wanted to thank you as I’m really in the mood to start reading Wolverine comics again… I think your doing a great job, and it looks like it would have taken ages to get that awesome info together. I really hope you keep working on it and update it soon…” –Edward

Wolverine Q&A

Back in the day, readers would send in Wolverine questions and I would answer them. Not quite the commentary track from Citizen Kane, but a little background seemed apropos.

Question: Do you know what issue had Dr. Doom possessing Wolverine’s skeleton and having his claws inside his armor? I have been trying to find this issue as I had read it long ago in the early 90s. — Ron

Answer: That was a 31st-century Marvel Universe storyline from Guardians of the Galaxy, culminating in issue #39 (August 1993). Mile High Comics offers a three-page preview of the comic on their site.
