Absolutely! While he was always searching for who he was and struggling against what he thought he was, he always strived to be a man just trying to do his best.

Now, he's - I don't know - a hapless fool with anger management problems. I'm very sad, and agree that since Origins and House of M, his humanity has been sacrified for sensationalism. How degraded and how much of a puppet without conscience can we make him?

Wolvie hasn't been the same since "Origin" and got worse when he recovered his memories. To me, the whole point of Logan was that it didn't matter who he might have been, it was his actions in the present that defined him.

More samurai, less thug has to be teh way to go surely?

Probably not.

Besides, from my years of comics I learned there's not much of a quality control over there. It goes up and down--we ride the waves and hope for something better to come around.

Any chance of any of these comments getting back to Marvel? And even if so, would they give a rat's a$$?

This book was AWFUL. I mean, I love watching train wrecks as they happen, but I really couldn't wrap my head around the crap that was going on in here. Marvel just seems so out of tune with today's readership. A majority of its readers are now "mature" adults. Stupid gore for the sake of gore does not strike my core. This whole thing was just offensive, as was the ads saying this was the most requested Wolverine title ever.

I'm seriously ashamed that my childhood hero was featured in something so poor that it just takes the wind right out of your sails

From these comments, I'm very afraid that Marvel is taking Wolverine down yet another pointless and ridiculous track that will wind up alienating old fans while not attracting any new ones. Wolverine may be one of Marvel's most popular characters, but the editorial forces at work seem to be intent on destroying any semblance of what it was that made him popular in the first place.

Recent books seem to have gone out of their way to depict Logan in as degraded and morally deficient a light as possible - a drunken, mindless thug, easily controlled, duped, and used by others - with nothing redeeming about him.

It's almost as if the editors at Marvel did not know Logan, at all. And don't care, either. This is "The Best There Is"? Really?

Yeah so now we have a good writer on a series being tamed down and a bad writer on a series with expressive freedom... ugh. I think Marvel just completely misses the point that most of the people that care enough about Wolverine to buy his solo stories are not only wanting but expecting well written, slightly mature themed stories. His main ability is claws, and his consistent reputation is that of a man constantly losing his humanity to a feral, murderous rage. The reader that is interested in that story (I think) expects to see a visual representation of that, and when it's not there, we're disappointed. Then instead of modifying the main series, they just launch another title with the gore and without the story, so we're just double disappointed, and short changed another 3 or 4 bucks.

Yeah . . . this whole thing just kinda rang out of tune. The dialogue, plot, characterization . . . none of it felt like Wolverine.

I like the idea of a new villain to look forward to, but characterization is key for me. This issue fell flat. Don't think I'll be picking up the next one, unless I hear some raving reviews.
