you have a good point there, that's actually what i thought too..this is a real bad ending, in my opinion it would've made more sense if wolverine actually gets to kick mr.x's ass without going berserk. the reason being mr.x prepared to fight an animal and that wolverine underwent training in manifest destiny and he got so much better because of it. doing that would also bring back the supporting characters from manifest destiny, something i'm really hoping would happen soon..

I guess what I don't understand is this:

1. Mr. X threatens to kill a classroom of kids to make Wolverine fight him.

2. When Wolverine stops fighting, Mr. X again says he will start killing children and it will be Wolverine's fault that they are dead.

3. Wolverine responds (eventually), "You harm one hair on a mutant's head? I make Nelson Mandela look like Rambo."

"You're... bluffing..."

"Am I? Can you afford to find out?"

Ummm... yes, he can. What if Mr. X keeps killing innocents? Sooner or later there will be enough dead bodies that Wolverine is going to have to fight him again.

Maybe I haven't had enough coffee this week, but I don't see how killing hundreds of innocents won't eventually force Wolverine's hand.

I think it was a bit more than Mr. X just training to beat Wolverine. He wanted to fight Wolverine when he was under the berserker rage that caused Mr. X to lose to Wolverine in the first place. Thus the reason why they had the couple of pages of Mr. X fighting the wild animals. So he could mimic what it would be like to fight that version of Wolverine. And to force that animal out of Wolverine, Mr. X was willing to go to any length to get it out (threatening little kids and mutants). As for Wolverine not willing to fight him, that was an unsatisfactory ending to the story. I'm not thinking that Wolverine should've killed Mr. X or Mr. X should've gotten his revenge. But it should've had a better ending than Wolverine letting Mr. X whip on Wolverine while Logan just laughed it off. I would think that would be the sort of thing to push Mr. X to just want to kill Wolverine outright.

i think the entire point of what mr. x did for the past few years that we didn't see him was so that he can fight wolverine..so wolverine not fighting just meant that it was all for nothing..if that makes any sense..

i agree with you, the first few pages of this comic book was good..but it went downhill from there..

I will admit that I've never been a big fan of Frank Tieri's work on Wolverine, nor the character of Mister X.

So you can imagine I was not looking forward to this one shot.

To my surprise, the first 11 pages or so were pretty good.

Unfortunately, it's a 32-page comic.

The most glaring problem I have with this issue is the resolution. I've read it three times now, and it still makes absolutely no sense to me.

If anyone else read it and understands how Wolverine not fighting is supposed to make any difference, please explain below because I am absolutely mystified.
