I'm a paying customer too, so I think I should add in my two cents.

I remember back when the Ultimate storyline was heavily influenced by the 616 universe. I don't think they were ever completely two different story lines. There was little tweaks and alteration here and there, but never so much that they felt like two completely different stories. And yest I have over 16 different volumes of Ultimate trade paperbacks for my daughter.

For me the Origins story line is all about free will and what can happen to a individual when free will is taking away. Do we blame the sword for killing another human being or the person wielding the sword? That is the question that pop's up in Origins and that is what I find so interesting about the story line. Logan wasn't a slave for Romulus is entire life, there was times he did break away from his captivity. But don't forget he hired other people to damage him emotionally, so his healing factor would wipe away his own memories.

This is not too much different from what happened to X-23 in the Target X series.

While most would disagree with my opinion, I'm just adding my two cents since I also am a long time fan of the character. Perhaps I'm more flexible to these changes because I can remember all the major changes my favorites characters have been through. Heck I remember how badly Spider Man was screwed up by the Clone Saga and the One more Day story arc. Yet I still love my favorite Web Head and I do like certain aspects about both those storylines. Perhaps I'm just a bit more flexible then most.

Not only have I not warmed to him, I think they need to put that "kung-fu hippy from gangsta city" down. I just don't have any interest in him as a character and you're right, the role Xavier seems to be playing in Origin reeks of the Ultimate story line. By-the-way, I love your site and your reviews. Please keep them coming.
